Organic Day Old Chick (SKAL)

Since July 2019 we also sell organic day old chicks. The organic chicks come from organic hens. The hens receive organic food, they live in a natural environment, have more space, are offered enrichment and have more daylight.
In order to be able to process and sell these organic chicks, we have a certificate, or a "SKAL quality mark". This means that we are allowed to sell these chicks with a organic label and that we are checked annually to see whether we comply with all conditions and rules.
But why don't we only sell organic chicks? Unfortunately, that many are not available. Day old chicks are a by-product of the egg industry. Because a lot of laying hens are kept in the Netherlands without an organic quality mark, a lot of roosters are also available. Of course we also like to use these as valuable food for animals.
At the moment, the organic chicks are only available in 10 kg packages, the chicks are limited available at the moment. We hope to be able to offer more of these chicks in the future.
